Objective

The symposium will re-examine research and development directions, needs and knowledge gaps, and identify modes to cope with the challenges to secure global food production while confronting water scarcity threats and other environmental and ecological challenges such as preservation of soil fertility. Emphasis will be both on irrigated and rain-fed agriculture with specific attention paid to potential solutions for developing regions and problems associated with climate change effects. Sustainable approaches for confronting global food and water security while reconciling environmental demands and conservation of natural resources will receive special attention.
